New Spirit Dakhla is a place that has been built out of love and passion for both the kitesurfing sport and the amazing location, and this is reflected in everything at the hotel.
The creator: Soufiane Hamaini
Soufiane Hamaini, creator and director at Dakhla Spirit first discovered this amazing lagoon over 15 years ago. Although his native hometown is Morocco’s other wind capital, the beautiful town of Essaouria, Soufiane maintained a close link with Dakhla throughout the years always with the intention of setting up a business and promoting this amazing desert gem.
Soufiane first started kiteboarding back in 1999, and the very start of the development of the sport… he was soon discovered and sponsored, which took him to Tarifa where he set up a base for training: Soufiane is regarded as one of the greatest international kitesurfers, having set one record after another at the age of just 26, including fourth place in the world rankings. Soufiane Hamaini was the first athlete from the Arab world to take part in the World Kitesurfing Championships (2000) and won the world title at the 2008 World Kitesurfing Championships in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, France.
He spent many years travelling to some incredible locations, as part of the North International team, but realised that Dakhla was still one of the most amazing places offering ideal kiteboarding conditions. So Soufiane decided to return to Morocco and work set up his ideal kitesurf camp, centre and hotel and at the same time still continue to travel to his other favourite spots around the globe to participate in trips, travel stories and competitions. Soufiane has dedicated his life to the sport, and now to the region, helping develop this amazing location, and ensuring that our clients here feel welcome and in safe hands.
In 2024, Soufiane and the KBC World team developed a unique new concept to create a new concept for the hotel and the water spot, creating New Spirit Dakhla.
2024 Beginning of a New Era – powered by KBC World
The entire Dakhla Spirit Camp is undergoing a complete renovation in 2024. The charming wooden cabins and tents are being transformed into modern, sturdy bungalows featuring a fresh and trendy design. Every aspect of the bungalow complex are revamped and modernized, ensuring a comfortable and stylish stay for all the guests.
This exciting redesign is spearheaded by the international kitesurf and wingfoil school network, KBC World, under the expert guidance of Soufiane, KBCs owner Thomas Beckmann and the KBC World Team. In addition to the newly designed accommodations, the top-tier watersports center – powered by KBC World – will offer the latest equipment and exceptional training opportunities for kitesurfing and wingfoiling enthusiasts.
New Spirit Dakhla will open again on March 1st, 2025. The focus is on community spirit and good vibes, making the New Spirit Dakhla the perfect place to unwind and connect with fellow water sports lovers.
